We are proud to be keeping traditional axe making skills alive in Australia. We have been manufacturing axes since 2002 after a long period of research and development and a lifelong loves of axes. Every step in the development of our axe range follows time honoured traditional methods and has been totally designed and overseen by Steve Snedden. Top quality alloys – nickel chrome moly (also used to make earth moving tynes for durability and strength) are used. We hand forge each axe to refine the grain structure in the steel for a superior cutting edge. They are heat treated to ensure the correct hardness and temper. Each head is individually hand shaped , sharpened to an all purpose edge ready to use. The grind is suitable for our Australian hardwoods. The handles have been ergonomically designed by Steve and manufactured in house from local spotted gum. The design incorporates a larger butt swell to fit the hand more comfortably. After the handle is hand fitted and wedged each axe head is pinned for safety and individually numbered.
Please allow 14 days for your poisoning axe to be made. Snedden’s Poisoning axe (hatchet) Hand Crafted Australian Made – with spotted gum 51cm long double grip handle and leather cover.
